Heavy Punishment for Corruptors

For many years corruption are growing quickly in Indonesia. Dreaming the corruption will be disappearing from this country is almost seems impossible. The problem lies in the difference of punishment for corruptor versus punishment for little people. Many people think that corruption should have heavier punishment than the other criminal offences. In the other countries heavy punishment for corruptors are very effective to reduce the corruption.

People claim that corruption is a habit in the Indonesian Government. Corruption and the Government is like water and sugar, they always fuse in everywhere. When a topic about corruption in government abroad, not long it will be disappearing without certainty. In the ICW (Indonesian Corruption Watch) statistic, the top three of political party corrupt is ruling party in the government. The simple statement that describes this problem is corruption now ingrained in the government. That is the reason, why people think if Indonesia becomes free from corruption, which will seem impossible.  

Today corruption could grow up every year. That can happen because there are many difference punishments to corruption and the other criminal offences. The other criminal offences have heavier punishment then corruption. The other difference is corruptors always jailed in luxury prison. From that reason we know if the main problem is in the punishment system.

 

Some people are disagreeing if corruptor should have heavier punishment than the other criminal offences. They feel the other criminal offences like murderer should have heavier punishment than any other criminal offences. They feel if corruption does not have significant effect to other people. In the other hand, some people are agreeing if corruptor should have heavier punishment than the other criminal offences. In the fact, corruption is having a lot negative effect to other people. The most negative effect from corruption is the Government could not make budget in the country effectively for little people. So I support if the corruptors should have heavier punishment then the other criminal offences.

In this country eradication of corruption is one step behind the other countries. In China, they have capital punishment for corruptors. In U.S they have minimum five years and fine minimum 2 million dollars for corruptors. In Indonesia the corruptors only punish by minimum punishment 1 year and fine minimum 50 million rupiahs. In fact, heavy punishment is very effective to reduce corruption, because that reason, Indonesian Government should have heavy punishment for corruptors.
